Product Description

• Active Ingredient: Leucovorin calcium 50 mg/5 ml.
• Mechanism of Action: Methotrexate blocks the action of folic acid, which is essential for cell growth. Leutero works by supplying the body with a ready-to-use form of folic acid, allowing healthy cells to recover and function normally without interfering with methotrexate's effect on cancer cells.
• Therapeutic Class: Folic acid analog; vitamin derivative (reduced folate form). 

• Prevention of Methotrexate Toxicity: It is primarily used as a "rescue therapy" following high-dose methotrexate treatment in cancer patients to minimize damage to normal tissues.
• Methotrexate Overdose: It serves as an antidote for patients who have accidentally received an overdose of methotrexate or similar medications.
• Colorectal Cancer: It can be used in combination with another anticancer medication called 5-fluorouracil to enhance its effectiveness against cancer cells.
• Megaloblastic Anemia: It is also used to treat certain types of anemia caused by a deficiency of folic acid, especially when oral therapy is not feasible.
