Product Description

• Active Ingredient: Pertuzumab is the active substance.
• Mechanism of Action: It is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) protein found on the surface of cancer cells. By binding to a specific domain on the HER2 receptor, it blocks the protein from pairing with other HER family receptors (a process called dimerization), which inhibits cell growth signals and can lead to the destruction of cancer cells.
• Uses: Lupiher2 (pertuzumab) is used in several treatment contexts for HER2-positive breast cancer:
  • Metastatic Breast Cancer: For cancer that has spread, in patients who have not received previous anti-HER2 treatment.
  • Neoadjuvant Treatment: Given before surgery to shrink tumors in locally advanced, inflammatory, or early-stage breast cancer with a high risk of recurrence.
  • Adjuvant Treatment: Given after surgery to reduce the risk of the cancer returning in early-stage cases at high risk of recurrence.
• Administration: It is administered by a healthcare professional as an intravenous infusion, typically once every three weeks. It is not for self-administration.
• Common Side Effects: Side effects can include diarrhea, hair loss (alopecia), nausea, fatigue, rash, and a sore mouth.
• Serious Warnings: It can cause heart-related problems (such as decreased heart function), severe allergic or infusion reactions, and low white blood cell counts. Patients are monitored closely for these issues.
• Pregnancy and Contraception: Lupiher2 is not recommended during pregnancy as it may harm the fetus. Effective contraception is required during treatment and for at least six months after the last dose.
