• Active Ingredient: The active compound is enzalutamide, at a concentration of 32mg/ml.
• Therapeutic Class: It belongs to the class of anti-neoplastics (cancer treatment drugs) and acts as an androgen receptor antagonist.
• Mechanism of Action: Liqenza works by blocking the effects of male hormones (androgens) like testosterone, which can fuel the growth of prostate cancer cells. It prevents these hormones from binding to receptors, which slows the growth and spread of the cancer.
• Indications: It is used for various stages of prostate cancer, including cases that have become resistant to other hormonal therapies, metastatic cases (cancer has spread), or non-metastatic cases with a high risk of recurrence.
• Dosage Form: It is an oral solution (syrup) and should be taken exactly as prescribed by a doctor, usually with or without food at the same time each day.
• Important Precautions:
  • It is not for use by women, especially those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it can harm a developing fetus.
  • Men taking the medication must use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 3 months afterward.
