Product Description

• Treatment of CMV Retinitis: It is used in adult patients with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) to treat cytomegalovirus infection of the retina (retinitis), which is a serious eye infection that can lead to vision problems and blindness.
• Prevention of CMV Infection: It helps prevent CMV disease in patients who have received a solid organ transplant (such as a kidney, heart, or pancreas) from a donor who was CMV-positive. 

• Administration: Virolfi 450 mg tablets should be swallowed whole, not crushed or chewed, and taken with food to improve absorption.
• Dosage: The dose and duration are determined by a doctor and depend on the patient's condition and response to treatment.
• Side Effects: Common side effects include diarrhea, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, fatigue, and low blood cell counts (anemia, low white blood cells, low platelets).
• Precautions:
  • It may cause bone marrow suppression, requiring regular blood tests to monitor cell counts.
  • It is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential harm to the baby.
  • Effective contraception is essential during and for a period after treatment for both men and women.
  • Patients with kidney problems may need a dosage adjustment.
  • Patients should drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and reduce the risk of kidney damage.
