Uses
Samluta 40mg is mainly prescribed for different stages of prostate cancer, including:
- Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC)
- Non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC)
- Metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC), often in combination with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT)
It may also be used in some cases to treat symptoms of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or excessive hair growth in women, as determined by a doctor.
How It Works
Most prostate cancers require male hormones like testosterone to grow and spread. Enzalutamide works by blocking the androgen receptors on prostate cancer cells, preventing the hormones from binding and stimulating cell growth. This action slows the progression of the cancer and may cause tumors to shrink.
