Product Description

• Active Ingredients: Cefoperazone and Sulbactam in a fixed ratio, commonly available in strengths such as 1000 mg/500 mg (1.5 gm total) or 2000 mg/1000 mg (3 gm total).
• Mechanism of Action:
  • Cefoperazone works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which is essential for the bacteria's survival, thereby killing them.
  • Sulbactam prevents bacteria from breaking down Cefoperazone by deactivating enzymes called beta-lactamases, which enhances the activity and spectrum of Cefoperazone against resistant bacteria.
• Uses: It is used to treat various serious bacterial infections, including:
  • Respiratory tract infections (lungs, throat, sinuses).
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs).
  • Intra-abdominal infections (e.g., peritonitis, abscesses).
  • Skin and soft tissue infections.
  • Bone and joint infections (e.g., osteomyelitis).
  • Septicemia (bacterial infection in the bloodstream).
  • Meningitis (inflammation of the brain and spinal cord).
• Administration: It is administered as an intravenous (IV) injection or infusion by a healthcare professional in a clinical setting. It is not suitable for self-administration.
• Important Precautions:
  • Alcohol: Avoid alcohol consumption during and for up to five days after treatment, as it can cause a severe reaction with symptoms like flushing, headache, and increased heart rate.
  • Allergies: Inform your doctor if you have a history of allergies to penicillins or other cephalosporin antibiotics.
  • Course Completion: The full course of the injection must be completed, even if symptoms improve earlier, to ensure the infection is fully treated and to prevent antibiotic resistance.
