Product Description

• Active Ingredient: Trastuzumab.
• Mechanism of Action: Trastuzumab works as a Human Epidermal growth factor Receptor 2 (HER2) inhibitor. It binds specifically to the HER2 protein found on the surface of some cancer cells, blocking the growth signals that cause the cells to multiply and helping the immune system destroy the cancer cells.
• Formulation: It is a white to off-white lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a multi-use vial, which must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water for injection USP (included in the combikit) before intravenous infusion.
• Strength: The common strength is 440 mg per vial; a 150 mg presentation is also available.
• Administration: It is administered only by a qualified healthcare professional through an intravenous (IV) infusion in a clinical or hospital setting. It should not be administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously (the IV formulation is not for subcutaneous use).
• Storage: Vials should be stored in a refrigerator (2C to 8C) and protected from light. It should not be frozen. 

• Breast cancer: Used to treat early-stage and metastatic breast cancer. It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with certain other chemotherapy agents.
• Stomach cancer: Used to treat HER2-positive metastatic gastric (stomach) or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma, often in combination with cisplatin-based chemotherapy. 

• Cardiotoxicity: The medicine can cause heart muscle problems (cardiomyopathy) or a reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Heart function is monitored regularly before and during treatment.
• Infusion Reactions: Severe reactions (fever, chills, nausea, breathlessness, etc.) can occur during or shortly after infusion. Patients are monitored closely during administration.
• Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as it can cause serious harm to the unborn baby. Effective contraception must be used during treatment and for at least 7 months after the final dose.
