Product Description

• Active Ingredient: Pemetrexed 500 mg.
• Mechanism of Action: Pemetrexed works by blocking the action of certain substances (folate-dependent enzymes) that cancer cells need to multiply and grow. This interference stops the growth and spread of cancer cells.
• Medical Uses: It is primarily used to manage advanced stages of:
  • Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC): A common type of lung cancer. It can be used alone or in combination with other chemotherapy drugs like cisplatin.
  • Malignant pleural mesothelioma: A type of cancer that affects the protective layer surrounding the lungs and the inner side of the ribs.
• Administration: The medicine is administered as an intravenous infusion by a qualified healthcare professional in a clinical setting. It is not for self-administration.
• Premedication: To reduce the severity of side effects, doctors may prescribe corticosteroids, folic acid, and vitamin B12 supplements during the treatment.
• Monitoring: Regular blood tests are necessary before each treatment to check kidney and liver function, as well as blood cell counts.
