• Active Ingredient: Erlotinib (150 mg)
• Manufacturer: Zydus Cadila
• Mechanism of Action: It is a targeted therapy that blocks the action of an abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply, thereby slowing or stopping the spread of cancerous cells.
• Uses:
  • Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC): Used for locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC, particularly in patients whose cancer cells have specific EGFR mutations.
  • Pancreatic cancer: Used in combination with gemcitabine to treat advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer. 

• Administration: The tablet should be taken orally once daily on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after a meal. It should be swallowed whole.
• Side Effects: Common side effects include rash, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and weight loss. The doctor should be informed of any severe or persistent side effects, especially severe diarrhea, vision changes, or breathing difficulties.
• Precautions:
  • Smoking: Smoking should be avoided during treatment as it can significantly decrease the medication's effectiveness.
  • Sunlight: The medicine makes skin sensitive to sunlight; protective clothing and sunscreen should be used outdoors.
  • Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and effective contraception is necessary during treatment and for a period after the last dose.
  • Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor about all other medications being taken, as many can interact with Zyceva 150 mg, especially antacids or other stomach acid-reducing medicines, which should be taken at least 2 hours apart.
  • Monitoring: Regular blood tests may be advised by your doctor to monitor liver function during the course of treatment.
