Product Description

• Active Ingredient: Abiraterone acetate (500 mg strength).

• Mechanism of Action: It works by blocking an enzyme called CYP17, which is responsible for the production of androgens (male hormones like testosterone) throughout the body. By reducing testosterone levels, it slows the growth and progression of prostate cancer cells, which rely on these hormones to thrive.
• Usage: It is typically used in combination with a steroid medication, such as prednisone or prednisolone, to help manage potential side effects and improve effectiveness. It is also used with androgen deprivation therapy in certain early-stage cases. 

• Administration: The tablet must be swallowed whole with water on an empty stomach (at least one hour before a meal or two hours after a meal). Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet. Taking it with food can significantly increase the amount of medicine absorbed into the bloodstream, raising the risk of side effects.
• Monitoring: Your doctor will regularly monitor your blood pressure, blood potassium levels, and liver function through blood tests during treatment.
• Pregnancy/Handling: This medication is only for use in men. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle the tablets without protective gloves, as the drug may harm a developing fetus.
• Contraception: Male patients with female partners of childbearing potential must use effective contraception during treatment and for a period after the final dose.
